Correspondence (1899-1936), subject files (1895-1937), and voucher registers (1910-1924) of Minnesota's naval militia. The correspondence deals mainly with supplying naval militia ships stationed in Duluth (U.S.S. Fern, U.S.S. Gopher, U.S.S. Essex, and U.S.S. Paducah), organization and training of naval militia battalions, and repair and maintenance of the ships, boathouses, and docks in Duluth. Most of the correspondence prior to 1924 is between Guy A. Eaton, Lieutenant Commander, Minnesota Naval Militia, Duluth, and the Minnesota Adjutant General and other Navy personnel. Some deals with the granting of commissions as well as supplies, particularly textbooks and uniforms.
